Collection: XATELET
Bold Ideas from the eighteenth-century Enlightenment, still as bold and ground-breaking today, lay the foundations for Xatelet. Artists of the Enlightenment believed that by shining a light into the fields of art, literature, sciences, they could break the shackles of the oppressive institutions of their time. Voltaire is but one inspiration, ending each of his letters with “Ecr. l’Inf.”, literally “crush the vile”, as he invoked his correspondents to bring light to people kept in intellectual shadows.
The revival of obscurantism and weavings of alternative narratives to fit individual fallacy looms large once again. Xatelet aims to enlighten, gather people of innovation, to frame a new altruism by offering collective support in creative endeavors.
